Starting today, I’ve decided to write an English diary every day. I plan to write about the previous day’s events while relaxing after breakfast, so today’s entry covers October 31st.
Since it was Halloween last night, my condominium complex grounds were filled with young people in costumes. It was quite a festive scene!
Hawaii has had a stretch of rainy weather lately, so I was worried about whether the children would be able to enjoy Halloween.
Even if it had rained, we still would have gone out into the neighborhood to look at the Halloween decorations. It’s always fun to see the unique displays each household puts up.
Fortunately, the weather cleared, so my husband and I were able to take our dogs, Toto and Laki, out in a stroller to enjoy the decorations. You can see what that was like in this video.
In the U.S., a three-month holiday season begins in October: Halloween, followed by Thanksgiving in November, and Christmas in December. My husband, our dogs, and I prefer to celebrate quietly, but it’s still a very special three-month period.
Once these three major events conclude, the new year arrives. I hope you’ll join me in following this English diary over the coming year!

今日から毎日、英語日記を書くことにしました。朝食後のリラックスした時間に前日のことを書くので、今日の日記は10月31日のことです。
昨夜はハロウィンだったので、私が住んでいるコンドミニアムの敷地内は、仮装した若者たちでいっぱいでした。とても賑やかで、お祭り気分あふれる光景でした！ここ数日ハワイは雨の日が続いていたのでハロウィンを子供達が楽しめるか気になっていました。
もし雨だとしても私達はハロウィンデコレーションを見に近所に出かけたでしょう。なぜなら、各家庭とても個性的なデコレーションを見るのが楽しいからです。
私と夫はストローラーに私達の犬のトトとラキをのせてハロウィンデコレーションを楽しみました。その様子はこちらの動画をご覧ください。
アメリカは10月から３ヶ月間ホリデーシーズンに入ります。10月はハロウィン、11月はサンクスギビングそして12月はクリスマス。我が家は夫とワンコ達と静かに楽しみますが、それでも特別な３ヶ月。この三大イベントが終わると新しい年になるアメリカです。1年間こんな英語日記にお付き合いください。
